When you practice the Hao style Taiji Quan, you need to be calm. When you are relaxed, every movement will be controlled by your mind (Yi). First, move your mind, then, perform the movements. After a long period of practice, you will be able to use your mind to move Qi. Then, use Qi to perform the movements. Master Hao Shao Ru calls this: “The unification of mind, Qi, and Quan (external movements).”
